Introducing the New Cudy PoE Switches

Introducing the New Cudy PoE Switches

Shenzhen, China — Cudy has unveiled a completely refreshed lineup of PoE switches, bringing a full upgrade to the PoE management experience.

Cudy PoE switches have been trusted in thousands of surveillance and business Wi-Fi deployments, providing 802.3at/af PoE power to access points, security cameras, signages, and so on. This latest generation continues the brand’s reputation for reliability while introducing a host of practical new features tailored for IT professionals.

"We stand in the shoes of the IT teams—those who keep entire systems running and demand reliability and ease of management," said Reed Liu, Product Director at Cudy. "When you add new devices, you need to know if the remaining power is sufficient. And when a newly connected camera doesn’t power on, you need insight into that port to troubleshoot. These needs are basic—but critical. So we made sure to build them into the new lineup."

PoE Indicators Streamline IT Work

All new Cudy PoE switches come with a PoE Max Indicator that eliminates guesswork about available power.

  • Blinking: 90% of the PoE budget is in use.
  • Solid Light: 95% of the budget is used—alerting IT to capacity limits.

This gives IT teams real-time feedback and helps prevent power overload issues during new device rollouts.

In addition, all the Gigabit models feature Per-Port PoE Indicators, showing whether a port is actively delivering power. This provides immediate clarity during troubleshooting—no more wondering if a PoE port is delivering power or not.

Intelligent Power Management

Managing PoE power priority can be complicated, and exceeding the power budget can lead to unpredictable shutdowns. All Cudy’s new PoE switches now simplify this process by automatically handling power allocation and device priority.

When the total PoE load exceeds the available power budget, the switch automatically disconnects the most recently powered device. This intelligent behavior ensures that existing critical devices stay powered, reducing the risk of system downtime.

Independent Control of VLAN, Extend, and Watchdog

VLAN, Extend, and Watchdog functions have long been favorites among installers for flexible deployment.

On previous models, a single mode switch toggled between VLAN/Extend/Default, limiting flexibility. Now, each feature comes with dedicated On/Off toggles, allowing independent control for maximum customization.

  • VLAN Mode: Isolates downlink ports from each other to prevent lateral threats, while maintaining uplink communication.

  • Extend Mode: Increases port range up to 250 meters by limiting the speed to 10 Mbps—perfect for long-distance surveillance setups

  • Watchdog Function: Monitors port activity and automatically reboots a device if no data packets are transmitted for 5 minutes—ideal for restoring frozen IP cameras or APs.

Upgraded EMC Standards and Shielded Ports

PoE switches are the backbone of mission-critical systems, and resilience against power disturbances is essential.

The new Cudy PoE switches now meet enhanced EMC protection standards:

  • IEC/EN 61000-4-2 (ESD Protection): Contact discharge up to 6kV, air discharge up to 8kV.
  • IEC/EN 61000-4-5 (Surge Protection):
    • Power Line: DM 2kV, CM 4kV
    • RJ45 Ports: CM 4kV

In addition, shielded RJ45 ports provide extra defense against electromagnetic interference, ensuring clean signal transmission even in noisy electrical environments.

Two Special Models

During this upgrade, Cudy also put forward two special models for specific applications.

GS1008P includes a Priority mode: when enabled, data packets to and from Ports 1–2 are given the highest transmission priority—ideal for IP phones or other real-time communication devices.

GS1005PTS1 features a 60W high-power PoE output on Port 1, making it well-suited for power-hungry devices such as PTZ cameras, high-performance wireless APs, or compact edge computing units.
