There is no OpenWrt firmware for RE1200 currently. We need the OpenWrt forum official support the router at first, then we can release a middle firmware for you, then you can use and upgrade to the OpenWrt firmware.

I’d like to install OpenWrt on my Cudy RE1200 V1.0 (current firmware: RE1200-R14-2.4.20-20250908-170954).
I understand that for the RE1200 Outdoor, Cudy provides a signed “intermediate firmware” that removes the bootloader’s firmware signature/image-name check, after which standard OpenWrt builds can be installed. Could you provide the equivalent intermediate firmware for the RE1200 V1.0 (board/image name “R14”)?
I previously contacted support about this and was told no OpenWrt firmware exists yet for the RE1200 V1.0, so no intermediate firmware is offered. Since the RE1200 V1.0 uses the same MT7628-based hardware and the same U-Boot signature-check mechanism as the RE1200 Outdoor (just a different board/image name, “R14” vs “R56”), I wanted to ask directly whether an R14-specific intermediate firmware could be built, the same way it was for the Outdoor.
If it would help, I’m happy to provide my current firmware version, board revision, or any other details needed.

If you have installed Mesh system with the router. You can’t update the firmware. Please power off the other Mesh device. Then reset this router to factory default. You can update this firmware before mesh system installed.
