Introduction

This article lists both the latest and historical updates to the Cudy Software Platform (CSP), starting from version 2.3 to 2.5. It provides an overview of newly introduced features and the Cudy models they support.

You are welcome to leave comments and suggest new features under this article. We will be happy to review your ideas and prioritize the most requested or most unique ones for our R&D roadmap.

In particular two WR3000s v1.0 and two WR3000 v1.0 that should get the firmware 2.5.x
Any timeframe when the new firmware will be available?

“I’m using two WR11000 V1.0 routers with firmware version 2.2.25-20251112-095400. One is configured as the main router and the second as a wireless extender. The 6 GHz band is used exclusively for backhaul, while the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands are used to serve Wi-Fi clients.

I tested Mesh mode, but the results were not satisfactory because the throughput was much lower than in Extender mode. I achieved around 200 Mbps in Mesh mode, compared to approximately 500 Mbps when using the second router in Wireless Extender or WISP mode.

From your previous reply, I understand that in Extender mode it is not possible to manually select the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz channels. This is a significant limitation, as the second unit sometimes selects channels with strong interference from neighboring networks or even from the main router.

As a workaround, I have been doing the following:

Change the second router from Extender mode to Wireless Router mode.
Manually select the optimal 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz channels.
Change the router back to Extender mode.

After this procedure, the second router retains the manually selected channels and operates efficiently with minimal interference.

However, whenever I need to change the channels again, I have to repeat the entire procedure, which is not practical.

Would it be possible to provide a firmware update that allows manual channel selection while the router is operating in Extender mode?"

I’m using two WR11000 V1.0 routers with firmware version 2.2.25-20251112-095400. One is configured as the main router and the second as a wireless extender. The 6 GHz band is used exclusively for backhaul, while the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands are used to serve Wi-Fi clients.

I tested Mesh mode, but the results were not satisfactory because the throughput was much lower than in Extender mode. I achieved around 200 Mbps in Mesh mode, compared to approximately 500 Mbps when using the second router in Wireless Extender or WISP mode, with both routers installed in the same locations.

In addition, I would like to better understand why Mesh mode performs significantly worse than Extender or WISP mode in my setup. Could you please clarify the following points?

1. When operating in Mesh mode, is the backhaul link always using the 6 GHz band, or can it automatically switch to the 5 GHz band?
2. What channel width is used for the backhaul in Mesh mode (320 MHz, 160 MHz, 80 MHz, etc.)?
3. Does Mesh mode automatically reduce the channel width for stability reasons?
4. Does Mesh mode use different channels than those used in Extender mode?
5. Is there any known performance limitation or issue affecting Mesh mode in firmware version 2.2.25-20251112-095400?
6. Is it possible to force the 6 GHz band to be used exclusively for backhaul in Mesh mode?
7. Are there any recommended settings to improve Mesh performance and achieve throughput similar to Extender mode?
8. Could you also confirm whether, in Mesh mode, both units may operate on the same 5 GHz channel or overlapping channels? If so, could this cause performance degradation due to co-channel or adjacent-channel interference?

Since Extender mode and WISP mode achieve approximately 500 Mbps under the same conditions, I would expect Mesh mode to provide similar performance. Therefore, I would appreciate any information that could help identify the reason for this large difference.
